Located in the once ‘’garage’’ parking area of the V&A Waterfront, this newly built store was previously located on the upper level of the shopping centre.

The original store continued to trade during the construction programme ensuring that no inconvenience was caused to Pick n Pay’s loyal customers.One of the challenges of this new store was the restricted headroom, clever and intricate planning was required to accommodate all services whilst not compromising the aesthetic of the store.

Careful consideration was given to the extent and design of the stores shopfronts. The unusual expanse of clear shopfront allows for clear visibility from the parking area as well as allows additional light into the store.

The new store reflected the latest brand design from colour palate, finishes, ceilings and bulkheads and inclusive of signage. A greatly improved service offering included the introduction of sushi, cheese, chocolate and coffee bars as well as a flower market. Tasting pods around the fresh area allows for tasting of produce prior to purchase. The new Bakery, Deli, Fishery and Butchery departments offer well displayed counters of fresh produce. In addition to the new supermarket, a new liquor store was also constructed reflecting the latest in the liquor brand image. With sustainability always a consideration, the store was fitted with lighting with a much improved energy efficiency. This new beautiful store was proudly opened in November of 2013.
