Situated adjacent to, and with direct access from, the N3 highway, Midlands Mall was opened in 2004 as a 28000m2 single level mall, the second only in Pietermaritzburg, and within two years became one of Liberty’s most successful retail centres in South Africa. Consequently the mall was expanded by xxxxm2 after only two years in operation. Additional parking, including undercover parking was included in this expansion.

In 2018 Phase 3 was added adjacent to and linked to the existing, but at an upper level, comprising two storeys, bringing the total leasable area to xxxxm2. This phase also included an extension of the existing parking area beneath the building, and a parking deck at the new retail level, creating a open “strip centre” for this phase only.

The development offers a full retail experience, with most of SA’s major and national tenants, including many restaurants and entertainment in the form of cinemas, large kiddies play area and a national brand gymnasium.
