Waterfall City covers a 330ha land area, situated between Johannesburg and Pretoria, and embracing an integrated new urban living with retail, residential, office, hotel, hospital, entertainment and park components.
Bentel was responsible for the masterplan for this urban land infill intervention, which ultimately seeks to densify the surround urban fabric and open up new commercial development opportunities within the Midrand area. With a total bulk area of 800,000m2 of mixed-use space, it accounts for 60% of the entire Waterfall development.
The centrepiece of the masterplan is for a super-regional shopping centre and a 1.2ha inner-city green zone, called the Waterfall City Park, which was designed to provide a ‘green-lung’ for gathering, concerts, relaxation and entertainment.
Surrounding the retail and urban park, all of the components and commercial buildings radiate outwards and embrace the centrepieces, creating an attractive and planned urban environment with good access to adjacent highway and major arterial roads.
