Opened in 2015, and developed over what used to be the Newmarket Racecourse in Alberton, Mall at Newmarket is conveniently located at the Newmarket Park, a 78-hectare property situated south east of Alberton's CBD.

The centre includes for 40,215m² of gross lettable area, and includes for Checkers Hyper and Food Lovers Market as the food anchors, and a Virgin Active gym and Builders Warehouse to the periphery, accessed from the parking area. The retail offering is further complemented by banking services, fashion and numerous restaurants, majority of which are located in a central food court.

The Architectural language of the centre took its cues from the racecourse location, utilising a simple palette of a materials like stone, off-shutter concrete and facebrick. The use of horse-inspired sculptures and motifs throughout the centre, aid to embellish and acknowledge the history of the location.
