The original La Lucia Mall was one of the early shopping centres designed by Bentel, completed in 1972 as a 12,000sqm shopping mall. In the early 2000’s, Bentel Associates redesigned La Lucia as an intimate high-end centre offering an exclusive shopping experience. Having undergone four extensions over the last thirty years, the centre had evolved to a size of 40,000sqm GLA, and required a comprehensive external and internal refurbishment.

The revised design sought to clarify mall interiors with a modern contemporary ambience. The main design feature, a centralised oval-shaped atrium and court, simplifies orientation and increases the overall legibility of the centre. The tensile cable glass roof is another significant design feature.
